Vote YES

The Aggregate and Ready Mix Association of Minnesota is one of more than 1,000 organizations statewide that supports passage of the transportation amendment this fall.  A YES vote on November 7th will mean $300 million more in revenue for transportation every year. This will help ensure that we have a balanced transportation system to support the state’s economy and quality of life. For you, this will mean easier commutes, more alternatives, safer roads and better transportation.

With your YES vote on Minnesota’s Transportation Amendment, you have an opportunity to ensure that we secure significant, new long-term funding for Minnesota’s roads and transit.

For more information about the amendment, go to www.VoteYesMN.org.

November 7th is an important day – please remember to go to the polls and VOTE YES on Minnesota’s Transportation Amendment.

PCA Launches Enhanced ConcreteThinker.com

As green building gains momentum, many designers are still in search of reliable, insightful resources for sustainable building solutions. Recognizing this unmet need for available information on green building, PCA introduced a new online resource — ConcreteThinker.com — at the American Institute of Architects 2006 National Convention and Design Exposition in June.

This innovative, first-in-the-industry Web site is a unique clearinghouse for design professionals on the durability, versatility, and high performance of concrete in sustainable design. A Sim City™-styled graphic serves as an interface to take visitors to case studies, explanations of concrete and cement-based applications and products, an extensive reference library, and green specification guidelines.

Building Green with Concrete and Slag Cement

The Slag Cement Association will be hosting a continuing-education seminar on building green with concrete and slag cement.  The seminar, which is co-sponsored by ARM, will be held November 10th at Midland Hills Country Club in St. Paul.

Building sustainable structures in commercial and public buildings as well as infrastructure has become a critical element for design and construction professionals. Concrete is the most widely used building material in the world, and also—when designed properly—can enhance the sustainability of a structure.
