Legislative Breakfast Scheduled for March 5th

The next ARM Legislative Breakfast is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5th at 7:30 AM at the Minnesota History Museum in St. Paul. A continental breakfast will be provided. Cost to attend is $25 and RSVP's must be made to the ARM Office no later than Monday, February 25, 2008. Either reply to this e-mail or call the ARM Office at 952-707-1250 to make your reservation.

Representative Bernie Lieder (DFL – Crookston), Chair of the House Transportation Committee is a confirmed speaker. Senator Keith Langseth (DFL – Glyndon), Chair of the Senate Capital Investment (bonding) Committee, and Representative Joe Atkins (DFL - Inver Grove Heights), Chair of the Commerce & Labor Committee (and author of the ARM aggregate property tax and aggregate tax bill) have also been invited to speak at this Legislative Breakfast.

Two other events are also happening at the Capitol on March 5th:

The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce is once again organizing Business Day at the Capitol of which ARM is a sponsor. This event gives you the opportunity to share your views and concerns directly with state policy-makers. Upward of 600 people come together as one statewide business voice at this event which has become the largest lobbying day in Minnesota. In its 15th year, the event is an excellent venue for the business community to speak with a single voice on common priorities including quality and affordable health care, minimizing the state tax burden, and passing long-term funding for transportation needs across the state. For more information, contact Joan Rausch at the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce at (651) 292-4654.

The Minnesota Transportation Alliance is sponsoring Transportation Day at the Capitol. This event is your chance to be heard on transportation issues at the State legislature. Come to Saint Paul and make an appointment with your legislator to discuss transportation in Minnesota. E-mail Kathy Jensen or call the Transportation Alliance at (651) 659-0804 with questions.

ARM Ready Mix Division Strategic Plan Meeting Scheduled

ARM has scheduled a Strategic Plan Meeting for its Ready Mix Division on Thursday, February 21 beginning at 1:30PM at the ARM office. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the rollout and implementation of the 2008 ARM Promotional Strategic Plan which focuses on residential concrete and commercial parking lots. The strategic plan will be used as a guide for targeted promotion and as a tool to measure performance and successes of those ARM Ready Mix Producers who utilize ARM's assistance to promote ready mix concrete in their local markets. Each member company will receive a copy of the plan to use for discussion during the meeting.

Dave Fennessy, ARM Promotions Director, will also be calling on members to schedule meetings to create strategies for individual markets. He will ask for a commitment from at least one individual representative from each member to be engaged in promoting in their local markets.

Storm Resistant Homes & Buildings Seminar Planned

ARM will be working with the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association to bring a seminar titled "Storm Resistant Homes & Buildings" to Minnesota April 9, 2008. Concrete has long been recognized as the material of choice for resisting high winds, flying debris, and storm surge associated with hurricanes and tornadoes. Now attendees of this seminar can learn how concrete building systems can be used to build storm resistant homes and buildings right here in Minnesota. ARM has applied to the State of Minnesota for approval for five hours of CEU's for Building Contractors. The seminar is AIA approved. Contact the ARM office at 952.707.1250 with questions.
